3 stages to Self/God realization Religious stage Atheist stage Non dual stage Not knowing stage The religious stage is characterized by a belief in concepts of God, Soul, heaven and so forth which has nothing to do with reality. These are concepts only and the person is living in a conceptual virtual reality. The atheist stage is a further evolved stage since the person wakes up and realizes that the treasured concepts of God, Soul, Heaven and so forth are not real. Those delusions are destroyed. It is one’s real passion to find the real God which leads him to destroy his false concepts of God. This destruction of concepts is therefore a step in the right direction. However it is not the end as this stage is really a stage of negation of all that is false and is sometimes characterized by a sense of void or emptiness.
